How it works

Never RV’d before? Don’t worry! Here’s what you need to know.

1. Gather Your Crew

Choose between a Full RV or Solo Traveler.

Full RV: Select your group size: 1, 2, or 4. While up to 5 individuals can easily fit in an RV, we recommend a group of 4 for the best comfort and value.

Solo Traveler: Grab your adventurous spirit and book yourself an individual spot. You’ll share the RV with other like-minded solo travelers.

*Note: All RVs must have one individual with a valid G driver’s license. Solo Travelers do not require a driver’s license.

2. Grocery Shopping

To save yourself precious time, we ask that you and your crew do grocery shopping prior to your Road Tryp. We will provide you with a recommended list of grocery items and other essentials that you may need.

3. Pick Up Your RV

On Day 1 of your Road Tryp, you’ll meet in Mirabel, QC (just outside of Montreal) where you'll be greeted by your Road Tryp Director and other fellow Tryppers. You’ll get your RV and have time to unpack your belongings and pick up your groceries. Free parking for your cars is provided on-site. We strongly recommend car-pooling to the RV pick up location to ensure availability of parking.

4. Orientation

You and your crew will undergo a brief orientation led by your Road Tryp Director. You’ll learn everything that you need to know to operate your RV safely and confidently. You’ll also be provided a detailed itinerary that includes timings and locations so that you can keep up with the caravan or travel at your own pace. First time driving an RV? No worries at all. You’ll get a hang of it after a few KMs on the road!

5. Hit the Road!

And away you go! Over 1,300 KMs of beautiful landscapes to discover, and countless memories to be made.

5. Return Home

After the adventure, you will drop off the RV at the same location where you picked it up. We guarantee that you’ll head back home amazed by the beauty that Quebec has to offer!

DAY

02

Exploring Quebec City

Bonjour et bienvenue! After a delicious breakfast in your luxurious home on wheels, you’ll head out for the day to explore one of the oldest cities in North America, the gorgeous and historic Quebec City. Prepare to be amazed by the unique European architecture and the lively French-Canadian culture.

You’ll kick off the day with a walking tour led by a local resident that knows the inner streets and hidden secrets. In the afternoon you’ll have the option to explore the city’s charm by bicycle along the St Lawrence River or enjoy lunch on the cobblestone streets of Old Quebec City. By evening time, it’ll feel like you left the country, dining on local Quebecois cuisine and tapping your feet to the traditional sounds of  French-Canadian folkloric music, Rigodon!

DAY

03

Ride the Coast

Get your favourite car jams ready for one of the most gorgeous rides of your lifetime. You will cruise Eastwards along the mountainous coast of the St Lawrence River, with views that will make you want to stop and meditate.

Approaching the village of Tadoussac, your RV will be transported across the river by a water ferry, delivering you to your next destination. Upon arrival, you will spend the afternoon admiring a hidden gem called Les Dunes - beautiful sand dunes overlooking the massive body of water.

DAY

04

Whale Watching

If you’ve never seen a whale in real life, this is your chance to meet these majestic creatures. The historic village of Tadoussac is located at the mouth of the Saguenay and St. Lawrence Rivers, where sweet and salty waters intersect; making it a whale watcher’s paradise. The whale watching excursion lasts 2.5 hours and the species that can be spotted are mainly blue, minke, humpback, and beluga whales.

DAY

05

Sea Kayaking

Next, our caravan heads west towards the interior of the province. En route we will make a pit stop in the city of Chicoutimi to refill on some essentials, and make our way to one of Quebec’s most impressive natural wonders.

Among the many treasures you will find on this journey, without a doubt Les Fjords du Saguenay is the region’s main attraction. Upon arrival to the Saguenay Fjords National Park, we will hop into our sea kayaks and embark on a breathtaking excursion, gliding between high cliffs as the sun sets over the water.

DAY

06

Saguenay Fjords National Park

Today is dedicated to hiking the astounding mountains of the Saguenay Fjords National Park. For those looking for the ultimate rush, you will embark on the famous Via Ferrata (Italian for “iron path”); a protected climbing route, built with a steel cable rail fixed to the rock, metal steps, ladders, suspension bridges and zip wires. With an experienced and licensed guide, your group will climb the rocky bluffs all the way to the top of the Baie Éternité, witnessing the most spectacular aerial scenic vistas of the fjords.

If you’re looking for less intensity, you will spend the day on the many beautiful hiking trails that will lead you up to some of the fjord’s most unique views.

DAY

07

Charlevoix Flavour Trail

Time to follow our taste buds! We now make our way south to the gastronomic region of the province called Charlevoix. The region prides itself for its traditionally crafted ciders and beers, meticulously pickled mushrooms, prize-winning cheeses and dazzling wines; all made locally and organically. Our day will start with a tour of a local fromagerie (cheese farm) where you will learn about and sample some of Canada’s most premium cheeses.

Next we will visit the world’s first ever tomato winery. Yes, that’s right, that’s wine made from tomatoes. Lastly, we will finish the day in the cutest town of Baie St-Paul known for its art galleries, artisan shops, and delicious restaurants.

DAY

08

The Shrine of St. Anne

Heading back towards Montreal, we make one more stop to admire the famous Sanctuaire Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. The basilica is one of five national shrines in Canada, receiving over half a million pilgrims every year. The architecture and sheer size of the church will amaze you. We then make our way to our final campsite for an epic farewell celebration with new friends that we now call family.

DAY

09

Until the Next Tryp...

Today we pack our bags and say our final farewells. We head back home feeling energized and fulfilled, with memories and friendships that will live on. The end of the adventure is just the beginning. Where one journey ends, another Tryp begins.

Important Notes

Some tips on how best to plan your Tryp!

Accomodation

You’ll be sleeping on beds within your private RV for 8 nights! If you’ve never done so, don’t worry, it’s the most comfortable camping experience.

Cancellation

In the case of cancellation, you must notify us at hello@tryps.ca. Deposits / payments are refundable for Tryp Credit up until 60 days prior to your Tryp start date. Afterwards, all payments are non-refundable.

Driving

All RVs must have one individual with a valid driver’s license. If you’ve never driven an RV before, no worries at all. It’s quite similar to driving a Moving Truck. After a few KMs on the road, you’ll get a hang of it.

Electricity

The RV generates electricity through its internal battery or through an external power source. RVs are equipped with 110V electric sockets for all your charging needs. All of our campsites provide an external power source.

Equipment

The RV is fully equipped with all necessary items and features for a comfortable Road Tryp.

Food

We will provide participants with a recommended list of grocery items and other essentials that you may need. To save yourself precious time, we ask that you and your crew do grocery shopping prior to your Road Tryp.

Gas

The listed price includes gas for the entire Road Tryp itinerary. Extra gas consumed will be the responsibility of the participant. Participants must return the RV with the same amount of gas provided upon pick-up.

Insurance

The listed price includes insurance for $5,000,000 Public Liability and Property Damage. Participants must provide a $250 refundable security deposit on the day of pick up. This is the deductible in the event of any incident. See full details here.

Mileage

The listed price includes a total of 1,400 KMs - enough mileage for the entire Road Tryp itinerary. Additional KMs consumed will be billed to the participant at a rate of $0.51 cents per KM.

Orientation

On Day 1 of the Road Tryp, you’ll undergo a brief orientation led by your Road Tryp Director, and you’ll learn everything needed to operate the RV safely and confidently. You’ll also be provided a detailed itinerary that includes timings and locations so that you can keep up with the caravan or travel at your own pace.

Packing

We will provide you with a recommended 'What to Pack' list well in advance of the Road Tryp.

Payments

For your convenience, payments are done in 2 simple installments. Upon making your booking, you can view the payment schedule showing due dates. Your booking can be paid online by debit or credit card.

Recreation Vehicle (RV)

Often abbreviated as RV, a Recreational Vehicle is a motorized vehicle or trailer which includes living quarters designed for accommodation. RVs are by far the most comfortable way to travel long distances on the road and experience outdoor camping. Our RVs are full-out Motorhomes which means the vehicle and accommodation areas are conveniently part of one single unit.

Route

The route as provided to you prior to departure is subject to change as changes in weather and other external factors are out of our control.

Standard Services

While we aim to provide the highest level of services, some components of the holiday (such as wi-fi, bathrooms, refrigeration etc.) will differ from the standard of service that you may experience whilst at home.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is optional though we highly recommend getting coverage. There are many options and we can certainly point you to our recommended source.

Water & Sewage

The RV is equipped with a freshwater tank which provides running water for kitchen and bathroom needs. Throughout the Road Tryp, you will learn how to empty and refill water tanks when needed.

What’s Not Included?

Food/Groceries ($100 per person)
Restaurants/Outings ($50 per person)
Via Ferrata Optional Activity ($80-$140 per person depending on duration)
Refundable RV Security deposit ($250 per person)
*Prices are in CAD.
